Rakhi Diplomacy: Minister Konda Surekha Meets Telangana CM After Controversy

HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister Konda Surekha tied a Rakhi to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at his residence on Friday, marking their first meeting since a political storm rocked the state’s ruling Congress party. The tension stemmed from controversial comments made against the Chief Minister by Surekha’s daughter, Konda Sushmitha.

The remarks led the party’s Disciplinary Committee to issue a show-cause notice to the minister. Although Surekha distanced herself from her daughter’s statements, party leadership considered her response unsatisfactory and referred the matter to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) for further action.

Observers view the festive visit—also attended by Minister Seethakka—as an effort by Surekha to diffuse friction and quell Cabinet reshuffle rumors. While the meeting softens public optics, the AICC high command retains final authority over any disciplinary proceedings.
