Alert Police Personnel Foil Suicide Attempt of Sudanese National at Tank Bund

HYDERABAD: Swift action by the Hyderabad Police averted a tragedy at Hussain Sagar Lake on Wednesday morning after a foreign national allegedly attempted to take his own life by jumping into the water. The individual was safely rescued from the lake following a prompt response by on-duty police personnel.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday along the Tank Bund stretch, directly opposite the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. According to preliminary reports, Saifabad police personnel deployed for security duty in the area noticed the man stepping into the lake waters. Recognizing the impending danger, the officers acted immediately and deployed a rope to pull the individual back to safety.

The rescued individual was identified as AD Drill, a Sudanese national residing at Paramount Colony in Tolichowki, Hyderabad. Following the successful rescue operation, Saifabad police handed him over to the Lake Police unit for medical checkups and further procedure. Authorities are currently questioning him to ascertain the underlying reasons behind his distress and the circumstances leading up to the incident.
