Hyderabad: A man posing as a police constable entered the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad and claimed he was part of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s security detail. Police said the accused, who is on the run, pointed to a suspected cheating angle.
In a major security lapse, a 31-year-old man impersonating a police constable entered the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad and gained access to the restricted areas, police said on Wednesday. The accused also filmed himself wearing a police uniform on the premises, claiming he was handling Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s security.
The man, identified as Tatturi Ravi alias Charan Yadav, a resident of Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram, allegedly posed as part of the Chief Minister’s security detail to move inside or around the high-security zone. The accused claimed he could arrange meetings with the Chief Minister and is reportedly on the run.
“Hi, greetings from inside (the Secretariat). I am Revanth Reddy’s security personnel. If you want to meet, send me a message, like and share,” he said in Telugu in a now-viral video, with the Secretariat visible in the background.
According to police, the accused used his false identity to build credibility and possibly lure people, pointing to a suspected cheating and influence-peddling angle.
Police are investigating how the fake police officer managed to bypass multiple security layers at the Telangana Secretariat and whether there was any internal lapse or assistance from any official.
