Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, “If you give Hyderabad development centers, we will give you global CEOs who lead the world.”
He was speaking as the chief guest at the “Freedom 250” celebrations organized by the US Consulate in Hyderabad to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. Recalling the journey from Microsoft’s entry into Hyderabad in the 1990s to Satya Nadella becoming the company’s CEO, he praised the talent and capabilities of Telugu people.
“The relationship between Hyderabad and the United States is not merely a diplomatic connection between two governments. It is a bond that has developed between people and families. Today, America is no longer just a country we see on a map. Through our children studying there, relatives working there, and young entrepreneurs launching startups there, America has become a part of every Telugu household. It is no longer that we are going to America—Telugu itself has reached America. The fact that Telugu is one of the fastest-growing languages there is a matter of pride for all of us.”
Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the Telangana–US partnership is no longer confined to the software industry.
“Our relationship has moved into the stage of co-creation. In life sciences, vaccine manufacturing, aerospace, and defense sectors, our partnership has grown stronger. In the coming years, cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, electric mobility, higher education, and research will reach new heights.”
The Deputy Chief Minister also recalled an announcement made by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Telangana Rising Summit 2025:
“As a symbol of our special relationship with the United States, we have decided to name the main road near the US Consulate after US President Donald Trump.”
On the occasion, he invited US Ambassador Sergio Gor and Consul General Laura Williams, who were present on stage, to unveil the road name plaque.
Bhatti Vikramarka further said that the new US Consulate building, designed to reflect the spirit of Deccan culture, stands as a symbol of cultural diplomacy. He also appreciated the support extended by the United States in preserving Hyderabad’s rich heritage.
Several dignitaries attended the event.
