Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 25: The presentation of the Kerala State Film Awards 2024 will be held on Sunday at 6.30 pm at the Nishagandhi Auditorium here, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presenting the awards.
The function will be presided over by Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian. The J.C. Daniel Award, the highest film honour instituted by the Kerala government, will be conferred on veteran actress Sharada, who will receive the award from the Chief Minister during the ceremony.
As many as 51 film personalities will be honoured this year. The award recipients include Mammootty, Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Soubin Shahir, Vedan, Shamla Hamza, Lijomol Jose, Jyothirmayi, Siddharth Bharathan, Chidambaram, Fazil Muhammed, Sushin Shyam, Sameera Saneesh, and Sayanora Philip, among several others representing various sections of the Malayalam film industry.
After the award presentation ceremony, a musical programme will be held, led by K.S. Harishankar and Seba Tomy, winners of the awards for Best Playback Singer.
A book containing the complete details of the Kerala State Film Awards will be released during the event. General Education and Labour Minister V. Sivankutty will release the publication by presenting the first copy to Food and Civil Supplies Minister G.R. Anil.
The function will begin with an introductory address by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairperson Dr Raseul Pookutty. The jury report of the film awards will be presented by jury chairperson and actor Prakash Raj, while the J.C. Daniel Award jury report will be presented by Cultural Affairs Director Dr Divya S. Iyer, IAS.
Several dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony, including Adv. V.K. Prasanth MLA, Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh, District Panchayat President V. Priyadarshini, Additional Chief Secretary (Cultural Affairs) Dr Rajan N. Khobragade, IAS, Literary Jury Chairperson Madhu Eravankara, Kerala State Film Development Corporation Chairperson K. Madhu, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Vice Chairperson Kuku Parameswaran, Academy Secretary C. Ajoy, and Academy General Council member G.S. Vijayan.
