Let Us Build an Alternative Politics Based on Values: TSDF

Warangal: The Telangana Sarvajana Democratic Forum (TSDF) has called upon intellectuals, social activists, leaders of people’s organizations, women, students, workers, farmers, and other public representatives to participate in the deliberation conference to be held tomorrow (Sunday) at the Press Club in Hanamkonda district headquarters. The conference aims to discuss the current anti-people political situation prevailing in Telangana and across India and explore ways to build an alternative political framework rooted in constitutional values.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Hanamkonda Press Club on Saturday, TSDF Coordinator Dharavath Prem Chand, Democratic Mass Movement state leader Dudala Sambaiah, All India OBC JAC Chairman Saini Narendra, and democrat Dr. Raj Mohammed emphasized the need to create value-based alternative politics by raising public awareness on key issues such as privatization of national resources, growing poverty and unemployment, corruption, protection of civil rights, preservation of democracy, and implementation of constitutional values.

They stated that public awareness movements in the past have often only succeeded in replacing one exploitative political party with another. Future movements and political efforts, they argued, should be fundamentally different and aimed at genuine social transformation.

The speakers stressed the need for governance that ensures women’s participation and empowerment in social, economic, and political spheres. They said a political platform based on ideological values is necessary to achieve comprehensive development and transparent governance that reflects the aspirations of all sections of society.

According to them, despite the continuation of a democratic system in India and Telangana, the hopes and aspirations of various communities remain largely unfulfilled. Promises made during elections often disappear after parties come to power. They criticized political leaders for exploiting public emotions—from India’s independence movement to the Telangana statehood movement—to gain power, while neglecting democratic governance and increasing social inequalities through exploitative policies.

They noted that persistent inequalities in social, economic, educational, employment, and livelihood sectors have left youth, farmers, workers, women, unemployed people, and other marginalized groups facing numerous challenges. While welfare schemes are important, people are seeking lasting development, equal opportunities, transparent governance, and a political system that encourages public participation.

In this context, they emphasized the need to transform politics from a tool for acquiring power into a platform for public service. They called for broad discussions among intellectuals, social reformers, youth, people’s organizations, and community representatives on alternative political ideas centered on ethical values, social justice, transparency, accountability, and inclusive development.

They stated that true democracy can be strengthened only when politics places people at the center, makes public needs its agenda, and focuses on the development of every section of society. TSDF expressed hope that all social forces would come together to discuss and formulate a future course of action.

The press conference was also attended by Kedala Prasad, State President of the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Social Justice Forum; Mugusala Devender Reddy, leader of the Telangana Activists’ Aspirations Forum; Mirza Ahmed BegK. Ram KumarMurali Naik of Sevalal Sena; and several others.
