PEETHAPURAM: To provide a delightful and healthy environment to the people of Pitapuram town and constituency, while promoting greenery, the “Peethikapuravanam” urban forest was developed and inaugurated by the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests and Environment Pawan Kalyan on Monday.
As part of his constituency tour, on Monday, he planted a sapling in the urban forest and unveiled the plaque as a symbolic inauguration of Peethikapuravanam. Developed over six acres with an expenditure of approximately ₹1.83 crores under the Central Government’s Nagar Van Yojana Scheme, this urban forest has added a fresh green charm to Pitapuram town.
An area that was previously a complete dumping yard and a hub of filth has, through Pawan Kalyan’s special initiative, today transformed into an urban forest that spreads the fragrance of greenery and offers a delightful atmosphere to the people. Keeping in mind the spiritual significance of Pitapuram, the urban forest has been designed as a confluence of delight and spirituality. Among them, Nakshatra Vanam and Shiva Panchayatan Vanam will stand as special attractions for visitors. Forest department officials explained the importance of these two to Sri Pawan Kalyan.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister observed the Miyawaki Forest Plantation set up over 70 cents, the Butterfly Park, and the large pond in the middle of the urban forest. To grow more trees in a small area and rapidly develop greenery, a mini-forest was planted using the Miyawaki method. More attractions like box cricket and play courts are planned to be added to the urban forest.
He instructed officials to further enhance the urban forest to make it more comprehensive and beautiful, so as to share delight with the people of Pitapuram as well as devotees visiting from other regions and states for spiritual purposes.
Afterward, Pawan Kalyan observed the photo gallery set up, describing how the area used to be when it was a dumping yard and the hard work put in to transform it into an urban forest. On this occasion, he congratulated the officials who worked to develop Peethikapuravanam. With the support of the Central Government’s Nagar Van Yojana Scheme, urban forests are being developed in various towns across the state.
