New Delhi, Jan 15: Google has rolled out a new feature, Personal Intelligence, through its Gemini app, announced company’s CEO Sunder Pichai on Wednesday.
Posting on his social media handle, Pichai wrote, “Answering a top request from our users, we’re introducing Personal Intelligence in the @GeminiApp.”
He further stated that the latest addition will allow users to securely connect with multiple Google apps, offering tailored responses to their queries. The feature leverages its core strengths, logical reasoning, and the ability to extract specific details from relevant sources such as emails and photographs, to deliver more context-aware and personalised answers.
As an example, Google said the tool can advise users on the most suitable tyre based on their usage patterns by analysing the kinds of trips they take through photographs stored on Google Photos. It can also assist with hair salon bookings by extracting details of a user’s last haircut or beard trim from previous calendar entries and providing the contact information of the salon professional for an upcoming visit.
Google noted that the new feature is built with privacy at its centre. By default, none of the apps is connected to this feature, end-user must actively choose the applications they wish to connect with the Personalised Intelligence feature of the Gemini app. This step enables the subscribers’ control over their personal information and how it may be used within the app, the company clarified.
“You choose exactly which apps to connect; these connected app settings are off by default,” said Pichai in his post.
The beta version of the latest development is set to roll out today for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. The feature is available across multiple platforms, including the web, Android, and iOS.
