RTC Bus Accident in Jogulamba Gadwal District Leaves 20 Injured

Gadwal, Feb 19: An APSRTC bus traveling from Hyderabad to Anantapur met with a serious accident in the early hours of Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Itikyalapadu in Undavelli mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district. The bus overturned around 4 a.m., leaving at least 19–20 passengers injured, with four reported to be in critical condition. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

According to police, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, possibly due to drowsiness, while negotiating a turn. He has been taken into custody for questioning. The injured passengers were rushed to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment, and their condition is said to be stable, though some remain under close observation.

The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on National Highway 44, but police later cleared the overturned bus and restored normal traffic flow. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and driver fatigue in long-distance bus services, with officials stressing the need for stricter monitoring and preventive measures.
