Hyderabad: Discussions between the management of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) and employee unions have failed, leading to a strike call. The TGSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) announced and started strike from Wednesday early morning, as no agreement was reached during the talks.
A committee reportedly requested four weeks’ time to resolve the issues, but the RTC JAC rejected the proposal. RTC JAC Chairman Eduru Venkanna stated that committees are being used merely to delay the process and that the unions have no option but to proceed with the strike.
He emphasized that the decision to strike was taken as a last resort. RTC JAC Vice Chairman Thomas Reddy said that their demands are not new and have been pending for a long time. He added that the issues raised are part of the promises made in the government’s election manifesto.
