
Bangkok: A horrific accident has occurred in Thailand. According to local police, 22 people lost their lives after a crane fell onto a moving train, causing several coaches to derail.
The accident took place on Wednesday morning in the Sikhio District, located approximately 230 kilometers from Bangkok. Construction work for a high-speed rail project is currently underway in the area. During these operations, a crane lost control and fell onto the tracks just as a passenger train was passing underneath. The impact caused the train coaches to veer off the tracks. Reports indicate that fires broke out in some of the coaches following the collision. Police have confirmed 22 deaths so far, with more than 30 others injured. There were reportedly 150 people on board the train at the time of the accident.
Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene immediately to carry out relief operations. Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
