Amaravathi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken a significant diplomatic step toward gender parity by writing personal letters to the heads of all political parties in the state, including YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Chief Minister urged political leaders to set aside partisan differences and provide unanimous support for the smooth passage and implementation of the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill, also known as the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.” In his correspondence, Naidu emphasized that true progress for the nation is only possible when women are given a seat at the decision-making table, describing the move not merely as a political decision but as a “social revolution.“
The Chief Minister’s appeal comes just ahead of a crucial Parliament session scheduled for April 16, where amendments to the reservation framework are expected to be debated. Naidu highlighted that his government has long been a proponent of women’s empowerment, citing the state’s success with DWCRA and MEPMA groups as evidence of what can be achieved when women are economically mobilized. He stressed that providing 33% reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies is a long-overdue milestone that would allow “the daughters of the house” to participate directly in law-making and governance.
In his letter, Naidu specifically aligned his stance with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advocating for the full implementation of the reservations starting from the 2029 general elections. He noted that the upcoming delimitation process, which could see the Lok Sabha seats increase significantly, offers a unique opportunity to integrate these reservations without displacing existing political stability. “This is a moment of pride for 140 crore Indians,” Naidu wrote, calling on all Members of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh to speak in one voice to ensure the bill’s implementation is not hindered by procedural delays. He concluded by stating that the collective support of all parties would be a fitting tribute to the spirit of democracy on a day the nation also remembers the constitutional vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
