Vijayawada: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is committed to accelerating the adoption of clean cooking solutions across the country and is geared up to aggressively expand this transformative initiative in mission mode, particularly in Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and other states, in alignment with the Government of India’s vision of promoting induction-based clean cooking.
EESL appreciates the Andhra Pradesh Government’s bold and progressive initiative to lead the country by adopting clean cooking solutions in more than 55,000 AnganwadiCentres on a saturation basis. This significant milestone towards promoting clean cooking is a visionary step by the Hon’ble Chief Minister and will also motivate the administrative machinery of Andhra Pradesh.
As a key implementation partner, EESL has played a pivotal role in translating the national clean cooking agenda into on-ground action. Through large-scale deployment, stakeholder engagement, consumer awareness and innovative financing mechanisms, EESL is helping make clean cooking accessible, affordable and sustainable for households across India.
As the Government of India embarks on a mission to make clean cooking a nationwide movement, EESL, as the nodal implementation agency under the guidance of the Ministry of Power, reaffirms its commitment to driving this transition and supporting the country’s journey towards a cleaner, healthier and energy-efficient future.
“With a proven implementation model and successful deployments across multiple states, EESL is now poised to lead the next phase of India’s clean cooking revolution, advancing the nation’s energy transition and climate goals.”
Induction-based clean cooking enhances the health and well-being of women and children by reducing exposure to harmful pollutants generated during conventional cooking processes. It supports environmental sustainability through lower emissions and improved air quality. The transition also delivers economic benefits by reducing household energy costs and promoting green growth.
The partnership between the Women Development and Child Welfare Department and Energy Efficiency Services Limited has empowered Anganwadi Centres with clean cooking technologies even before the ongoing West Asia conflict began affecting fuel supply chains in many countries, said Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, CEO, EESL.
During an exclusive presentation, A. Surya Kumari, Secretary, Women Development and Child Welfare Department, along with Director M. Venugopal Reddy, highlighted the key benefits of the programme, which include: Creation of cooler, cleaner and safer working environments for Anganwadi workers. Induction-based cooking delivers nearly 35 per cent cost savings and is about 30 per cent more energy-efficient than conventional LPG-based cooking. Significant reduction in dependence on LPG cylinders. Substantial reduction in indoor air pollution. Prevention of nearly 28,327 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Enhanced safety by eliminating open flames and reducing fire hazards.
under Phase-I, induction cooktops and utensil kits were distributed to 11,400 Anganwadi Centres. Under Phase-II, around 20,000 Anganwadi Centres have already received the equipment, and the entire programme covering all 55,746 centres is scheduled for completion by the end of this month.
The initiative marks another significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s journey towards sustainable development and reinforces the State’s resolve to contribute meaningfully to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an energy-efficient, environmentally responsible and climate-resilient India.
