AP Govt Clears Promotions for Village and Ward Secretariat Employees, Upgrades 815 Posts

AMARAVATI: In a major administrative decision benefiting frontline field staff across Andhra Pradesh, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department has issued crucial orders (G.O. Ms. No. 244) clearing promotion channels and restructuring career pathways for Village and Ward Secretariat employees.

The executive decision establishes a clear hierarchy for grassroots civil servants, addressing long-pending demands for career progression while restructuring municipal cadre strength without imposing additional financial burdens on the state exchequer.

Under the directives issued by the state government, local administration staff will benefit from new promotional avenues and upgraded designations.

Through strategic post-adjustment and surplus rationalization, 815 new Junior Assistant positions have been created within the Municipal Administration Department. Eligible Ward Administrative Secretaries will be promoted to the newly created Junior Assistant posts.

Following the elevation of Ward Administrative Secretaries, eligible Ward Data Processing Secretaries will be promoted into vacant Ward Administrative Secretary roles. 815 Ward Sanitation and Environment Secretary (Grade-II) posts have been officially upgraded to Grade-I status. 815 Ward Planning and Regulation Secretary (Grade-II) posts have been upgraded to Grade-I status.

The promotion directives come on the heels of the government extending the 11th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) Automatic Advancement Scheme (AAS) to secretariat employees who have completed six years of service.
