KTR Slams Centre Over NEET-UG Cancellation due to Paper Leak

Hyderabad: Following the dramatic cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 examination by the National Testing Agency (NTA), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on the NDA-led central government on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

Terming the situation a matter of “national shame,” the former Telangana minister accused the central government of absolute incompetence and structural failure in safeguarding the future of millions of medical aspirants.

The political backlash erupted shortly after the NTA announced it was throwing out the results of the May 3rd nationwide examination—which saw the participation of over 22 lakh students—due to a massive question paper leak originating in Rajasthan and subsequently handing the probe over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The BRS leader expressed fierce anger over the systemic loopholes, stating that more than 100 questions from a “guess paper” had leaked online a day prior to the exam. KTR asserted that the Centre has failed to learn anything from previous structural irregularities, referring back to the severe friction surrounding the NEET exam integrity in 2024.

“It is deeply shameful for the central government that a situation has arisen where a premier national exam like NEET had to be entirely cancelled due to question paper leaks. The NDA government’s continuous inability to organize full-proof, transparent national examinations has turned into a curse for dedicated students who spend sleepless nights preparing,” KTR stated in a sharp post on X (formerly Twitter).

He highlighted that the administration’s administrative failure has inflicted immense “mental agony” on nearly 23 lakh students and their parents across the country who are now forced into limbo, waiting for a re-examination schedule.

Demanding strict accountability, the BRS working president called upon the central government to issue an unconditional apology to the student community. He further urged that the newly initiated CBI probe must look beyond lower-level operators to capture the influential masterminds behind the printing press leaks.

KTR concluded his statement by demanding that the Union Ministry of Education immediately formulate an iron-clad, secure infrastructure framework for the re-examination to restore public trust in the country’s educational evaluation system.
