TG HC Issue Notices to Tatha Madhu, Naveen

HYDERABAD: The High Court for the State of Telangana has issued notices to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) Tatha Madhusudhan and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy. The court’s directives follow ongoing legal and political controversies surrounding allegations against the opposition legislators.

The legal proceedings stem from an incident at the Assembly precincts, where the two BRS MLCs were booked by the Saifabad police under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The complaint, lodged by the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Legislative Assembly Speaker G. Prasad Kumar, alleged that the opposition leaders made objectionable and derogatory remarks targeting the Speaker during a confrontation with security personnel.

The confrontation took place when opposition legislators were stopped near Assembly Gate No. 3 during a protest, leading to a heated argument and a subsequent police complaint.

Earlier this month, the Saifabad police arrested both MLCs and produced them before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Nampally. However, the Nampally court rejected the prosecution’s plea for judicial remand and granted conditional bail to both leaders on personal bonds and sureties.

Concurrently, the Legislative Council suspended Tatha Madhusudhan and Naveen Kumar Reddy for the remainder of the session. The suspension followed a resolution introduced in the House condemning the alleged unparliamentary utterances made against the Speaker.
