Chennai, Feb 1: The final electoral roll for Tamil Nadu under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) will be published on February 17, 2026, according to a notification issued by Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik.
The Election Commission of India has been conducting the Special Intensive Revision across the state to update electoral rolls and ensure that all eligible citizens are included.
As part of the exercise, the draft electoral roll was published on December 19, 2025, incorporating the names of electors who had submitted enumeration forms during the enumeration phase.
Following the release of the draft roll, a claims and objections period was opened from December 19, 2025, to January 30, 2026.
During this time, electors whose names were missing from the draft list, as well as newly eligible voters, were able to apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with a declaration form.
Requests for deletion of names or objections were filed using Form 7.
Electors who had shifted residence, required corrections to existing entries, sought replacement of their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), or needed marking as persons with disabilities submitted applications through Form 8.
Officials reported that a significant number of applications were received during the claims and objections window.
A total of 24,47,142 physical forms were submitted across categories.
This included 17,10,462 applications under Form 6, 24 under Form 6A, 1,84,663 under Form 7, and 5,51,993 under Form 8.
In addition, online submissions also saw strong participation, with 10,28,575 applications filed digitally.
These included 5,73,063 Form 6 applications, 1,293 Form 6A applications, 15,935 Form 7 submissions, and 4,38,284 Form 8 applications.
Overall, the state received 34,75,717 applications through both offline and online modes during the revision process.
“All the applications will be processed by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers at the district level,” the CEO said, adding that the updated and final electoral roll will be published on February 17, 2026.
The Special Intensive Revision is aimed at improving the accuracy of the voter database, ensuring inclusion of eligible citizens, and removing incorrect or outdated entries.
The final publication will mark the completion of this round of revision, providing an updated electoral roll for the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
