Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 26 (UNI): RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said India will definitely emerge as a major global power and called upon the world to recognise what the country has to offer beyond its economic growth.
Addressing the Bharatiya Vignana Sammelan at the National Sanskrit University here, Bhagwat said true development is not limited to material prosperity but must include intellectual and spiritual growth.
He said happiness should be attained through knowledge, noting that while food, sleep and reproduction bring happiness to animals, human beings are distinguished by their awareness of the body, mind, intellect and soul.
Bhagwat stressed that society should not be divided into those who are happy and those who are unhappy, and said those who are comfortable should work to ensure comfort for all without arrogance.
Explaining India’s knowledge tradition, he said knowledge of the physical world is referred to as vijnana, while inner knowledge is known as jnana, adding that Indian wisdom uniquely places emphasis on dharma.
He said the objective of the Indian Science Congress is to make knowledge accessible to people worldwide in the languages they understand, which would enable intellectual development for all.
India, Bhagwat said, seeks to offer the world not just power but also a holistic vision encompassing economic, social and spiritual dimensions.
