ACB Raids on Telangana R&B Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik Unearth Crores

Hyderabad: In one of the largest crackdowns on bureaucratic corruption in recent times, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana conducted simultaneous raids on properties belonging to Roads and Buildings (R&B) Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) T. Mohan Naik. The searches, which spanned multiple locations across Hyderabad and other parts of the state, have reportedly unearthed illegal assets worth tens of crores of rupees.

The anti-graft agency swung into action early in the morning following credible information and a formal case registered against the top official for accumulating wealth vastly disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Special teams of the ACB, led by senior central and city wing officers, descended upon Mohan Naik’s primary residence in Hyderabad. Simultaneously, searches were executed at over a dozen locations connected to the official, including the houses of his close relatives, associates, and suspected benamis in Mahabubnagar and other districts.

During the extensive searches, ACB sleuths discovered incriminating documents related to prime real estate. Preliminary findings reveal that the R&B chief allegedly invested heavily in open plots, luxury residential apartments, and agricultural land parcels across emerging pockets of Telangana.

In addition to the real estate documents, the raid teams reportedly found a substantial amount of liquid cash, high-end electronic gadgets, and luxury vehicles at his properties. Searches at the residence and bank lockers associated with the family yielded kilograms of gold ornaments and silver articles.

Officials have frozen several bank accounts and are scrutinizing fixed deposits and insurance policies running into lakhs of rupees.

An inventory of the seized valuables is currently being prepared, and the market value of the uncovered properties is estimated to be manifold higher than the registered government value.

Sources within the investigative agency revealed that Mohan Naik, holding a key executive position in the crucial R&B department, had been under discreet surveillance for a while. The bureau is actively investigating whether the amassed wealth is linked to kickbacks received during the allocation of high-value road infrastructure contracts, flyover projects, and government building tenders across the state.

ACB officials stated that the verification of documents and locker keys is still ongoing. The accused officer is being questioned regarding the source of funding for these massive acquisitions. If he fails to provide a legitimate explanation for the assets found, formal arrests and subsequent legal remand procedures will follow in accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act.
