Palnadu: Bringing a high-profile manhunt to a close, a suspended Circle Inspector (CI) from the Guntur Range surrendered before law enforcement authorities following grave allegations of sexual assault. B. China Mallaiah, who was previously placed under Vacant Reserve (VR) and subsequently suspended, turned himself in to the police in connection with a rape case registered against him in Vinukonda town, Palnadu district.
The surrender follows intense pressure from senior department officials and swift departmental action aimed at upholding accountability within the state’s police force.
The case came to light after a 40-year-old woman, originally a native of Markapuram district and currently residing in Vinukonda, approached the local police station to lodge a formal complaint against the officer.
According to police reports, the survivor had been managing a guest house owned by the accused officer in Vinukonda, which was constructed in 2020. She had relocated to the town around the same time the officer was posted to the region. The premises were being utilized by her to operate a small poultry unit. In the temporary absence of poultry stock, she continued to visit the property regularly for routine maintenance and cleaning operations.
The complainant stated that on April 28, China Mallaiah arrived unexpectedly at the guest house and notified her that he would be staying overnight. On the following morning, April 29, after she finished bathing and walked into the main hall, the officer allegedly intercepted and sexually assaulted her. The woman immediately disclosed the harrowing ordeal to her husband, after which the couple approached the Vinukonda Town Police Station to report the crime.
Following the initial complaint, the Vinukonda police registered a formal case under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which covers the offense of rape. Medical examinations for the victim were ordered promptly, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was deployed to gather critical physical evidence from the crime scene.
Recognizing the gravity of the criminal charges against a serving officer, Guntur Range Inspector General of Police Sarvashresta Tripathi issued strict orders placing China Mallaiah under immediate suspension. The district headquarters emphasized that the suspension was vital to guarantee a completely transparent, fair, and impartial investigation without any internal institutional interference.
