New Delhi, Jan 28: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief K. Pawan Kalyan arrived in the national capital today, for a high-profile diplomatic visit. His trip coincides with the commencement of the Union Budget Session, signaling a strategic push for Andhra Pradesh’s developmental interests.
The Deputy CM’s itinerary is packed with crucial meetings aimed at securing central support for the state. According to sources within the Jana Sena Party, Pawan Kalyan is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the implementation of pending assurances from the AP Reorganisation Act, the state’s current law and order situation, and the release of central funds for Panchayati Raj and rural development. He is also scheduled to meet Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to push for enhanced railway connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, specifically focusing on pending rail overbridges (ROBs) and the expansion of the railway network in the Pithapuram constituency.
Ahead of the Union Budget (scheduled for February 1st), Kalyan is expected to make a final representation for special financial assistance and infrastructure grants for the state.
Political analysts view this visit as a vital step in maintaining the “Double Engine” momentum of the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance. With the Economic Survey set to be presented tomorrow (January 29), Kalyan’s presence in Delhi highlights the state government’s urgency in ensuring Andhra Pradesh receives significant allocations in the 2026-27 Union Budget.
Beyond infrastructure, the Deputy CM is also expected to discuss the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission and rural water supply schemes in Andhra Pradesh. Kalyan, who has been vocal about “Sanatana Dharma” and inclusive development, is likely to highlight the success of grassroots welfare schemes like the Lakhpati Didi initiative during his interactions with Union Ministers.
“The Deputy CM’s visit is centered on ‘Design to Deployment.’ We are here to ensure that the promises made to the people of Andhra Pradesh are backed by the necessary central resources,” said a senior JSP leader accompanying the minister.
